چکیده

The total variation based image denoising model of Rudin, Osher, and Fatemi has been generalized and modified in many ways in the literature; one of these modifications is to use the L1 norm as the fidelity term. We study the interesting consequences of this modification, especially from the point of view of geometric properties of its solutions. It turns out to have interesting new implications for data driven scale selection and multiscale image decomposition.

Regularized Autoregressive Multiple Frequency Estimation

The paper addresses a problem of tracking multiple number of frequencies using Regularized Autoregressive (RAR) approximation. The RAR procedure allows to decrease approximation bias, comparing to other AR-based frequency detection methods, while still providing competitive variance of sample estimates. We show that the RAR estimates of multiple periodicities are consistent in probabilit...

Regularized Total Least Squares: Computational Aspects and Error Bounds

For solving linear ill-posed problems regularization methods are required when the right hand side and the operator are with some noise. In the present paper regularized approximations are obtained by regularized total least squares and dual regularized total least squares. We discuss computational aspects and provide order optimal error bounds that characterize the accuracy of the regularized ...

Anisotropic Total Variation Regularized L-Approximation and Denoising/Deblurring of 2D Bar Codes

We consider variations of the Rudin-Osher-Fatemi functional which are particularly well-suited to denoising and deblurring of 2D bar codes. These functionals consist of an anisotropic total variation favoring rectangles and a fidelity term which measure the L distance to the signal, both with and without the presence of a deconvolution operator. Based upon the existence of a certain associated ...

A new total variation diminishing implicit nonstandard finite difference scheme for conservation laws

In this paper, a new implicit nonstandard finite difference scheme for conservation laws, which preserving the property of TVD (total variation diminishing) of the solution, is proposed. This scheme is derived by using nonlocal approximation for nonlinear terms of partial differential equation. Schemes preserving the essential physical property of TVD are of great importance in practice. Such s...

Total Variation Regularization for Linear Ill-Posed Inverse Problems: Extensions and Applications

where A is a matrix and x, b are vectors and n is the realization of random noise. We analyze the solution x̂ = A−1b which is completely dominated by noise. A useful solution can only be obtained by using additional information about the true solution x∗. The resulting solution x̂ is called the regularized solution of the inverse problem. Two popular regularization techniques, Tikhonovand total v...
